Job Summary

Perform preventive maintenance according to set schedules, identify faults during vehicle inspections, and execute repairs for auxiliary components including brakes, sensors, and hydraulic cylinders. Conduct basic diagnostic work using gauges and computer software for engine and transmission systems, while replacing known failed parts without come-backs. Notify supervisors immediately for parts ordering and track time in accordance with company procedures. Maintain service truck readiness, repair order documentation, and monthly inventories, ensuring all work complies with safety policies and state regulations. May assist in training Tech 1s or audit Preventive Maintenance Inspections.

Required Qualifications

  • At least one year of verifiable preventative maintenance experience
  • Technical degree
  • Demonstrated knowledge of maintenance on class 8 vehicles
  • DOT Inspector License (per 49 CFR – Part 396.19)
  • Must possess own tools
  • Familiarity with shop equipment and safety practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Basic automotive knowledge
  • Basic understanding of oil sampling theory and practices
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Demonstrated aptitude for maintaining and repairing equipment
  • Ability to read labels, safety warnings, and guidelines
  • Ability to learn basic computer skills to communicate document daily work and progress, track procurements and repair status
  • Ability to pay attention to detail and remain alert to ensure safety
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions and to communicate with co-workers
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Valid Class C driver's license
  • Safe driving record for the past three years
  • Current State Inspector License or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of employment

Desired Qualifications

  • High school diploma or its equivalent
  • Class B commercial driver's license
  • Safe driving for the last five years
  • Formal training in preventive maintenance operations
  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certified or the ability to obtain certification
