Job Summary
Diesel Mechanic/Shop Technician responsible for diagnosing and repairing diesel and gasoline-powered vehicles and equipment. Performs chassis, refuse body, hydraulic/electrical, air brake, engine, HVAC, suspension, drivetrain, and steering system work, along with basic tire service. Provides on-site and road service as needed; utilizes electronic tools to diagnose malfunctions; follows safety and company training programs; and participates in ongoing training and career growth within a single fleet. Requires ability to perform preventative maintenance, basic welding/fabrication, and adherence to company policies while supporting drivers and maintaining equipment readiness. ASE certifications are a plus, and a CDL is optional.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Driver’s License
- 3-5 years of experience in a technician role with knowledge of both gasoline and diesel-powered equipment
- Experience diagnosing multi-system issues and performing preventative/repair maintenance on heavy trucks and related equipment
- Basic inspections with limited supervision across suspensions, steering, engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical, hydraulics, and drivetrain
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications (T1-T8) are a plus but not required
- Commercial Driver’s License is a plus but not required
- Graduation from an accredited automotive college or technical school within the next 3 months (or equivalent experience)
- Ability to perform basic inspections and on-site/road service as needed
- Valid Driver’s License
