Job Summary
Perform standard and preventive vehicle maintenance, diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers, and complete detailed inspections and repairs with minimal supervision. Replace defective components as instructed and work unsupervised on most tasks while performing facility maintenance duties. Interact with customers or drivers to determine complaint nature, utilize the Shop Management System for electronic documentation, and adhere to all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines. Act as a mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels and access internal maintenance documents. Complete required OEM diagnostic scan tool software courses and obtain SBTIII training. Drive Ryder vehicles and support operations as required.
Required Qualifications
- CDL A or B
- Basic tools
- Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines
- Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems
- All other certification as required by location
- Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy duty and medium duty equipment
- Knowledge of and the ability to apply knowledge of computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
- Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
- Must pass a Ryder Drug Test
- Must pass a DOT physical
- Must pass a Ryder road test
- Must pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years

- Three (3) years or more relevant work experience
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A
