Job Summary
Perform standard vehicle maintenance, preventive maintenance, and complex mechanical inspections on heavy-duty equipment. Diagnose electronic problems using diagnostic computers and replace defective components with minimal supervision. Interact with customers to determine complaint nature and utilize the Shop Management System for electronic documentation. Mentor Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels while acting as a support resource for operations. Complete required OEM diagnostic scan tool software courses and maintain SBTIII certification. Work unsupervised on most tasks while adhering to federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- Basic tools
- Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems
- Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy duty and medium duty equipment
- Knowledge of and the ability to apply knowledge of computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
- Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
- Pass a Ryder Drug Test
- Pass a DOT physical
- Pass a Ryder road test
- Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from the last 3 years
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Vocational or Technical Certification
- Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications
- Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including: Routine preventative maintenance, which should include oil changes, brake and tire work
- Three (3) years or more relevant work experience
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A
