Job Summary
Perform basic vehicle maintenance, component identification, and minor repairs on heavy-duty vehicles. Diagnose minor mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers and execute preventive maintenance with training and support. Carry out facility maintenance duties and all other entry-level tasks as assigned. Requires a valid CDL Class A (obtainable within six months), one year of transportation maintenance experience preferred, and ability to work second shifts including weekends. Includes paid training, state-of-the-art diagnostics, and tool allowances.
Required Qualifications
- Basic tools
- Ability to understand and communicate effectively
- Ability to work shift work/weekend as required
- Ability to perform all entry level tasks
- Ability to demonstrate mechanical aptitude
- Knowledge of and the ability to apply knowledge of computers
- Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
- Must pass a Ryder Drug Test
- Must pass a DOT physical
- Must pass a Ryder road test
- Must pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One (1) year or more experience in transportation maintenance
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A
