Job Summary
Diesel Mechanic performs repair and maintenance on diesel and non-diesel equipment and trucks including chassis components, refuse bodies with control, hydraulic and electrical systems, air and hydraulic braking systems, light engine work, suspension, drivetrain and steering systems, heating and air conditioning, and line maintenance welding/fabrication. Provides road service as needed to ensure equipment returns to operation safely and efficiently. Works under direct supervision, identifies malfunctions using electronic tools, completes company training programs, and participates in ongoing skill development while supporting drivers and the fleet.
Required Qualifications
- 3-5 Years of experience in a technician position demonstrating knowledge of both gasoline and diesel-powered equipment diagnosis and repair or graduating from an accredited automotive college or technical school within the next 3 months
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to diagnose multi-system issues and consistently demonstrate technical expertise
- Basic understanding of work order labor time standards
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications (T1-T8) are a plus but not required
- Commercial Driver’s License is a plus but not required
