Diesel Mechanic

Job Summary
Inspect and diagnose diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, and steering systems for faults or wear. Perform preventative maintenance including oil changes, fluid checks, and lubrication. Repair or replace defective components and interpret diagnostic test results from computerized systems. Conduct safety checks on vehicles and equipment before dispatch and perform test drives to verify repairs. Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and maintenance schedules. Collaborate with maintenance staff to ensure fleet readiness and assist in ordering parts inventory. Work outdoors at the recycling facility year-round, adhering to OSHA and company safety protocols.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2–3 years' experience as a diesel mechanic
- experience with heavy-duty trucks
- experience with recycling equipment
- Strong mechanical aptitude

- ability to work independently
- ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Desired Qualifications
- post-secondary education
- ASE or equivalent diesel mechanic certification
- experience can be counted for certification
- Familiarity with J-Pro
