Job Summary
Senior Mechanic for the Asphalt and Paving Shop responsible for expert maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of asphalt paving equipment and heavy‐duty diesel trucks. Provides technical leadership and mentoring to junior mechanics, ensuring pavers, rollers, milling machines, and related equipment operate with peak efficiency. Performs diagnostics with electronic software, repairs high‐pressure hydraulic and electrical systems, conducts teardowns and rebuilds of diesel engines and components, maintains PM schedules, documents work orders in CMMS, and fabricates parts as needed. Works in both shop and field environments, oversees safety inspections, and leads by example in a strong safety culture. Must be able to work overtime and weekends as required.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or relevant experience; Trade School certification or Associate's Degree preferred
- 3+ years of Heavy Equipment/Diesel Maintenance experience, with at least 2 years specifically focused on asphalt/paving equipment
- CDL Class A, preferred
- Must supply own working set of mechanic tools (check with local shop for specific details)
- Experience with diagnostic software, troubleshooting, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, and engine/transmission repair
- Ability to perform shop and field repairs, lead and mentor junior technicians
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety practices
- Ability to read mechanical diagrams and blueprints
- Leadership and training capabilities
