Job Summary
Diagnose, repair, and recondition heavy earthmoving equipment in the field by removing components, troubleshooting failures, and ordering replacement parts. Test engine and machine systems, prepare inspection reports, and maintain accurate service documentation. Work on Caterpillar machinery and similar heavy equipment, adhering to reusability guidelines and company policies. Maintain a tool inventory, operate a service vehicle, and respond to emergency calls outside normal hours. Requires DOT and MSHA certifications, a valid driver's license, and three years of experience with CAT or similar heavy equipment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or (GED) equivalent.
- Three years experience as an earthmoving shop technician working with heavy equipment.
- Experience on CAT heavy equipment or similar equipment.
- Proficient in mechanical systems (transmissions, engines, hydraulics, etc.).
- Ability to diagnose and repair CAT heavy equipment and components in the field.
- DOT and MSHA certifications required.
- Proficient in the use of a computer and related software (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Strong problem solving skills and be detailed oriented with a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to operate a service vehicle.
- Must have a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record.
- Able to lift more than 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in the field without supervision.
- Must be able to work in a dynamic, fast paced service environment.
- Must have a safe working record.
- Must be able to work after hours when needed to meet customer needs.
- A background check and drug test are required as part of our pre-employment process.
Desired Qualifications
- Associates degree in a related field is preferred.
- CDL License.
