Job Summary
Diagnose and repair operational difficulties with heavy duty diesel trucks and equipment, including rolling stock. Maintain and repair heavy diesel, CNG, gas, and electrically operated vehicles while completing daily reports, work orders, and part procurement in M5 planner. Plan and schedule repairs, review mechanical write-ups, and ensure compliance with all safety regulations and federal, state, and local laws. Utilize power and hand tools to perform maintenance on hydraulic equipment and maintain a clean work area. Assist in training new employees and keep up with the latest technology through technical manuals and training seminars. This boots on the ground position requires a minimum of one year of diesel mechanic experience and involves working 6am-2pm M-F with overtime after 40 hours.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Technical diploma
- Minimum of one (1) year experience as a diesel mechanic
- Must be computer literate
- Must have the ability to be trained on software systems
- Must have the willingness to learn
- Must be able to meet relevant criteria for safety sensitive functions according to Company standards
- Ability to communicate effectively with others
- Ability to follow detailed instructions
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to maintain accurate records
- Ability to understand and effectively use repair and parts manuals written in English
- Ability to operate any vehicle or equipment necessary to perform job
- Possess physical ability to perform all aspects of job
- Ability to stand, sit, walk, use hands and fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, climb, balance, taste, and smell
