Job Summary
Supervise and assist with daily tractor and trailer repair, maintenance, and preventive service operations to ensure vehicle performance and safety. Organize shop workflow from asset entry to exit, assigning work items to mechanics and monitoring completion while coordinating tire inventory and vendor work. Perform repairs on tractors and trailers, read complex schematics, and diagnose refrigeration equipment using specialized tools and software. Maintain strict compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and safety regulations through frequent spot checks and hazardous waste disposal protocols. Monitor equipment repairs, communicate with dispatch regarding asset needs, and assist in instructing other technicians on proper techniques.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of post-secondary automotive/truck/HVAC technology program
- Valid driver's license
- Possess or be able to obtain 608/609 Refrigeration Technician Certification
- Ability to obtain ASE certification in heavy truck
- Basic knowledge of computer systems including Windows and Microsoft
- Possess adequate hand, pneumatic and electric tools required to perform routine repairs and maintenance
- Able to lift up to 75 lbs
- Able to reach and grab tools and equipment
- Able to stand and/or walk on concrete surfaces, and one place for extended periods of time
- Able to climb to heights of more than 24 inches with the use of a ladder and/or other climbing apparatus
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge in truck, trailer, and reefer industry
- CDL
- Diagnostic skills (Thermo King, Carrier, Bendix -ABS, Volvo, Cummins and Allison)
- Basic knowledge of computer systems including Windows and Microsoft (TMT helpful)
