Job Summary
Diesel Technician needed to maintain and repair school buses in Wichita, ensuring safety and reliability for passengers. Key duties include diagnosing and repairing brakes, engine tune-ups, suspensions, drive trains, transmissions, clutches, and other components; performing preventive maintenance, safety inspections, and annual maintenance checks; completing work orders; and assisting with mobile emergency repair services as needed. The role requires 3+ years of diesel or automotive maintenance experience (or equivalent), a valid driver’s license, and CDL Class B (or ability to obtain within 60 days with company-paid training). Candidates should be prepared to participate in the ASE certification program and maintain strong diagnostic and computer skills. This is a day-shift, full-time position with competitive pay ($21–$25/hour base, with potential bonuses) and comprehensive benefits across a large, nationwide network.
Required Qualifications
- At least 3+ years of diesel or automotive maintenance and repair experience, or equivalent technical school education and experience
- Vehicle diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Valid driver’s license
- CDL Class B or ability to obtain within 60 days of employment – Company paid training provided
- Possession of a mechanic’s tool set
- Willingness to participate in the ASE certification program (training, testing, and bonuses provided)
- Strong computer skills
