Job Summary
Assist mechanics with complex mechanical, electrical, and drive train repairs on all makes and models of trucks and trailers, including engine, tire, suspension, and refrigeration systems. Perform routine and complex troubleshooting, fluid checks, and DOT-compliant vehicle inspections. Manage shop inventory by tracking stock levels, reporting physical counts, and ordering non-stock parts to prevent job delays. Utilize daily shop software for job creation, clocking, and parts entry while maintaining accurate paperwork. May cover shop operations during supervisor absences and assist in training other technical staff. Requires a valid Iowa driver's license, ability to drive manual trucks, and 2–5 years of diesel repair experience.
Required Qualifications
- Valid current Iowa driver's license
- Ability to drive all types of trucks, including manual transmissions
- 2 years of experience with diesel truck repair
- Ability to consistently present him/herself and the company to the public in a clean, courteous, and professional manner
- Ability to work professionally and be respectful of all other employees of this company
- Ability to lift up to 100 lbs
- Ability to write a work order
- Mechanical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read technical diagrams and manuals
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test
- Must submit to random drug/alcohol testing if randomly selected throughout the year
Desired Qualifications
- Three to five years of experience with diesel truck repair
