Job Summary

Utilize diagnostic and troubleshooting skills to identify mechanical problems with equipment and vehicles. Research diagnosed issues to determine necessary repairs, order parts or tools as needed, and repair equipment and vehicles in a timely and efficient manner. Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled repair on equipment and vehicles while traveling to project sites as needed to assist with equipment setup. Adhere to all safety requirements of the position. Requires a high school diploma, three years of experience working as a mechanic on diesel powered machinery, and a valid driver's license. Must be capable of standing and walking for durations exceeding eight hours in a day, working outside year-round in all conditions, and lifting up to 75 pounds.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Valid Driver's license
  • Ability to read and comprehend moderately complex instructions, correspondences, and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to interpret and manipulate simple computer software programs
  • Ability to conduct online research through targeted keyword searches
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit number and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's
  • Ability to perform these operations using unity of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding and carry out moderately complex instructions
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
  • Standing and walking for durations which could exceed 8 hours in a day
  • Using hands and fingers to control, handle and feel small to large objects
  • Seeing details of objects from a distance or close-up
  • Working outside year-round in all conditions present
  • Balancing, stooping, squatting, crouching, and crawling
  • Lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 75 pounds when necessary
  • Reaching with hands and arms

Desired Qualifications

  • Secondary education in diesel mechanics or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience working as a mechanic on diesel powered machinery
  • Class A or B CDL license
