Diesel Mechanic

Job Summary

Required Qualifications

• •High School diploma or equivalent
• •Must have a valid driver's license
• •Class A or B commercial driver's license
• •3 years experience directly related to the duties or mechanics school graduate (Heavy equipment diesel engines and transmissions)
• •Must be able to stand for long periods on varied surfaces
• •Must be able to move freely, including the ability to stoop, crawl, and bend at the knees and waist
• •Must be able to lift 100 pounds unassisted
• •Must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE")
• •Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests
• •Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions
• •Must be able to work long and unpredictable hours

Desired Qualifications

• •High School diploma or equivalent preferred
• •Must have a valid driver's license, Class A or B commercial driver's license preferred
• •Must be a self-starter and be able to work unsupervised
• •Can work in a team atmosphere and learn new tasks
• •Have basic computer proficiency and good verbal and written communication skills
• •Must have good organizational skills, be able to meet strict deadlines, and document issues and procedures
• •Must be able to maintain an effective system of communication with supervisors and customers
• •Must be able to maintain a safe and clean work area
• •Must be able to assist other mechanics as needed
• •Must be able to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment failures
• •Must be able to provide repair and maintenance to diesel and gasoline engines
• •Must be able to adjust and repair ignition, fuel, electrical, hydraulic and steering systems
• •Must be able to maintain and repair chassis, frames, and bodies
• •Must be able to work with hoisting and jacking equipment, power tools, measuring instruments, gauges and meters
• •Must be able to lubricate equipment
• •Must be able to maintain and repair tires, batteries, brakes, and valves
• •Must be able to perform shop management functions such as maintenance scheduling and spare parts inventory control
• •Must be able to make estimates of material, labor, and equipment requirements
• •Must be able to demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas
• •Must be able to promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors
