Job Summary
Troubleshoot, clean, inspect, and maintain heavy equipment, diesel motors, and hydraulic systems at transfer stations and material-recovery facilities. Perform welding and repair various types of machinery while taking an active role in workplace safety and health improvements. Participate in weekly safety meetings and prepare legible work orders and completion sheets. Work all assigned shifts from 6:00 pm to 4:30 am, maintaining punctual attendance. Must be able to work in all weather conditions and adapt to changing duties based on business needs.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Must supply own tools
- 2-5 years of experience in a transport environment
- Gritty, outgoing, and eager to learn
- Proactive, hardworking, highly organized, and an independent critical thinker
- Ability to use a variety of vehicle maintenance tools such as hand tools, electric tools, pneumatic tools, jacking equipment, safety stands, and electronic testing equipment
- Ability to receive, understand, and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to read and understand parts of service manuals
- Ability to prepare legible and understandable work orders and schedule completion sheets
- Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions
- Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc.) for most of the workday
- Required to exert physical effort in handling objects less than 40 pounds
- Ability to stand for up to 12 hours
- Ability to bend, reach, push, and pull frequently
- Must be able to lift 40 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- Driver's License/CDL B is a plus
- ASE Certification
- Tow Motor Certification
- Air Brakes Certification
- Demonstrated mechanical skills
