Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic

Job Summary

Perform skilled maintenance, diagnostics, and repair on diesel-powered vehicles and heavy construction equipment, including tractors, backhoes, and generators. Conduct preventative maintenance tasks, perform body repairs, change fluids and filters, and balance wheels. Maintain detailed records and reports for all servicing and maintenance work. Assist with gasoline vehicle fleet repairs and support diagnostics for other parks when required. Work full-time, 5 days a week, with flexible scheduling that may include weekends and holidays.

Required Qualifications

  • Successful completion of the commonwealth's Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic Trainee program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
  • Two years of journey level mechanic experience in the diagnosis and repair of automobiles, heavy trucks, or construction equipment, which includes one year of experience in the diagnosis and repair of diesel vehicles or equipment
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training
  • Active Pennsylvania Class 1, Class 4, or Class 7 Inspection Mechanic Certification on the first day of employment
  • Active Class C non-commercial Driver's License
  • PA residency
  • Ability to perform essential job functions
