Job Summary
Die Maker Journeyman role involves building, repairing, remodeling, and maintaining dies using various materials. Responsibilities include following OSHA and company safety procedures, fabricating or repairing dies, reading blueprints, performing die repair with mills, lathes, grinders and hand tools, making in-press repairs, die tryouts, and using measuring instruments (calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers) to repair/fabricate dies. Operate a hi-lo and/or overhead crane to transport dies and other heavy equipment; document data for the department; basic computer skills required. Eligible candidates must have an Apprenticeship Certificate in Die Maker or six years of documented experience, be able to pass GM hiring requirements, be 18+, be eligible to work in the US, and be willing to work flexible shifts including overtime. Relocation/travel are applicant-responsible; position may be Journeyperson or Journeyperson in Training with corresponding pay bands.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Department of Labor Completion of Apprenticeship Certificate in Die Maker trade or six years of documented experience as a Die Maker
- Must be able to satisfactorily complete General Motors hiring process requirements including assessments, hair drug testing, and a background check
- At least 18 years of age
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Must be willing to work flexible shift hours including day, afternoon, or night shifts as well as overtime hours daily, weekends and holidays
- The position may be filled with a Journeyperson or Journeyperson in Training; compensation ranges for a JIT include 37.88-44.19/hour or a Journeyperson rate of 45.09/hour
