Job Summary
Die Maker Journeyperson responsible for building, repairing, remodeling, and maintaining dies using mills, lathes, grinders, and other tools. Reads blueprints to perform repair/fabrication, performs die repair and fabrication, and conducts in-press repairs. Utilizes measuring instruments (calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers) and may drive a hi-lo or operate an overhead crane to transport dies and heavy equipment. Documents and records data for the department and requires basic computer skills. Must follow OSHA safety procedures and company procedures. Role may be filled as Journeyperson or Journeyperson in Training; compensation ranges between $37.88-$44.19 per hour (JIT) or $45.09 per hour (Journeyperson). Requires willingness to work flexible shifts (day, afternoon, night) with overtime, plus relocation/travel is the applicant’s responsibility. GM does not provide immigration sponsorship. Required Qualifications
- U.S. Department of Labor Completion of Apprenticeship Certificate in Die Maker trade or six (6) years of documented experience as an Die Maker
- Must be able to satisfactorily complete the General Motors hiring process requirements which include comprehensive assessments, hair drug testing, and a background check
- At least 18 years of age
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Must be willing to work flexible shift hours and day, afternoon, or night shift as well as overtime hours daily, weekends and holidays on those shifts with little notice.
