Job Summary
Die Maker Journeyman position at General Motors in Marion, Indiana. Responsible for building, repairing, remodeling, and maintaining dies using various materials, following OSHA safety procedures, performing die fabrication/repair including welding, reading blueprints, and using mills, lathes, grinders, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments. Duties include die repair, in-press repairs, die tryout, and operating a hi-lo or overhead crane to transport dies and heavy equipment. Must document data for the department and possess basic computer skills. Requires apprenticeship certificate or six years of experience, ability to pass GM hiring process including assessments, and eligibility to work in the US. Shifts include day, afternoon, or night with potential overtime; relocation/travel expenses are applicant responsibility. Pre-employment requirements also include background checks and drug testing. Employment is UAW hourly with competitive compensation and benefits; travel and relocation are applicant-borne. Accommodations are available upon request.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Department of Labor Completion of Apprenticeship Certificate in Die Maker trade or six (6) years of documented experience as an Die Maker
- Must be able to satisfactorily complete the General Motors hiring process requirements which include comprehensive assessments, hair drug testing, and a background check
- At least 18 years of age
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Must be willing to work flexible shift hours and day, afternoon, or night shift as well as overtime hours daily, weekends and holidays on those shifts with little notice.
