Dialysis Technician - Worthington Medical Center - Part Time

Job Summary
Initiate dialysis treatments by preparing equipment, performing cannulation, and administering medications like heparin and local anesthetic. Monitor patients during stable treatments, adjust blood and fluid flow rates, document vital signs, and respond to alarms or emergencies including CPR under nurse supervision. Conduct safety tests, set alarm limits, and maintain infection control protocols through proper PPE use and station sanitization. Operate computerized charting software and manage water system parameters. Participate in orientation and education of new technicians. Requires NNCC or BONENT certification within 18 months and Basic Life Support certification.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED)
- Must possess or obtain certification as a Hemodialysis Technician from the National Nephrology Certification Commission (NNCC), the Board of Nephrology Examiners Nursing and Technology (BONENT), or other approved certifying agency within 18 months of hire
- Must be on the Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP) Registry through the Board of Nursing at the time employment begins (if working in North Dakota)
- Must register as Unlicensed Dialysis Technician through the SD Board of Nursing once certification is received (within 18 months) (if working in South Dakota)
- Must obtain and subsequently maintain required department specific competencies and certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
