Dialysis Technician - Worthington Medical Center - Part Time

Job Summary
Perform delegated nursing interventions for stable dialysis patients under direct supervision, including initiating and discontinuing treatments, monitoring vital signs, responding to alarms, and administering medications like heparin and local anesthetic. Prepare equipment according to prescriptions, perform cannulation, obtain blood samples, and adjust fluid removal rates per policy. Maintain infection control standards through proper use of personal protective equipment, disinfection, and sanitization. Document treatment parameters and participate in orienting new staff. Requires NNCC certification within 18 months and basic life support certification. Shifts are eight-hour day shifts with 24 weekly hours for part-time positions.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED)
- Must possess or obtain certification as a Hemodialysis Technician from the National Nephrology Certification Commission (NNCC), the Board of Nephrology Examiners Nursing and Technology (BONENT), or other approved certifying agency within 18 months of hire
- Must be on the Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP) Registry through the Board of Nursing at the time employment begins (if working in North Dakota)
- Must register as Unlicensed Dialysis Technician through the SD Board of Nursing once certification is received (within 18 months) (if working in South Dakota)
- Must obtain and subsequently maintain required department specific competencies and certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
