Job Summary
Deliver safe, efficient hemodialysis treatment and specialized registered nursing care in accordance with state law at the Butner Federal Medical Center. Perform thorough patient assessments, recognize changes in patients on dialysis, and make necessary adjustments to therapy while responding to emergencies. Manage daily unit operations including set-up, machine cleaning, medication administration, and laboratory specimen collection. Coordinate care with the healthcare team, maintain strong relationships with clients and staff, and assume primary nurse responsibilities as directed. Document all activities clearly, verify order accuracy, and participate in quality assurance and performance improvement projects.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited nursing school or equivalent
- Current RN License for North Carolina
- Current CPR certification (or within three months of hire)
- Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English
- One year of Hemodialysis RN experience
- Experience must be within the past two years
- Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and satisfactorily communicate in English
- Strong technical/computer proficiency with laptops, tablets, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, etc.
- Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work the full schedule which may range from five to fifteen hours per day
- Ability to work in a hospital or in the medical unit of a post-acute or correctional facility
- Ability to be exposed to chemicals and blood-borne pathogens
- Ability to perform duties remotely (cannot be performed remotely)
