Dialysis Patient Care Technician

Job Summary
Cares for and monitors adult/geriatric ESRD patients during dialysis at a clinic in Alaska; prepares dialysis machines, records patient vitals, explains dialysis procedures to patients, inspects access sites and equipment, starts treatment per physician order, monitors for adverse reactions, assists with inventory, and supports a team-focused dialysis clinic environment. Requires high school diploma or equivalent, CPR within 90 days, color-vision confirmation, successful dialysis training, CMS certification readiness, flexibility to work varied shifts, English proficiency, basic computer skills, strong organization, problem solving, confidentiality, and excellent interpersonal and multitasking abilities.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 months of dialysis, phlebotomy, or CNA/PCA experience preferred
- CPR certification required within 90 days of hire
- Ability to distinguish primary colors - Ishihara Color Vision Test
- Successful completion of dialysis training program with demonstrated competency within 12 weeks of hire
- Must meet CMS-approved national certification requirements within CMS timeline
- Must be flexible to work most days/times (no set shifts)
- Demonstrated working knowledge of English language (verbal and written)
- Must have basic computer skills; proficiency in clinical applications within 90 days of hire
- Must be able to organize time and tasks well
- Use of problem solving, analytical and effective communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion
- Interpersonal skills to work with patients and staff
- Ability to multi-task efficiently and professionally
