Job Summary
Dialysis Patient Care Technician provides direct care to adult/geriatric ESRD patients in a Wasilla, AK clinic. Responsibilities include caring for patients before, during, and after dialysis; preparing dialysis machine/components; transporting patients and recording vitals (weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration); explaining dialysis procedure and machine operation to patients; inspecting access sites (fistula, graft, or catheter) and equipment settings (pressures, conductivity, temperature) to ensure safety; initiating treatment per physician order; monitoring for adverse reactions and machine malfunctions; assisting with inventory and supply stocking. Requires completion of our dialysis training program with demonstrated competency within 12 weeks, CMS-certified national certification maintained, CPR within 90 days, color vision (Ishihara test), high school diploma or equivalent, basic English proficiency, and basic computer skills. Must be flexible with shifts, capable of organizing multiple tasks, maintaining confidentiality, and collaborating with patients and staff.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- CPR certification within 90 days of hire
- CMS-approved national certification requirements within CMS timeline
- Demonstrated competency through dialysis training program within 12 weeks of hire
- Ability to distinguish primary colors (Ishihara Color Vision Test)
- Basic computer skills; proficiency in clinical applications within 90 days
- Fluency in English (verbal and written)
- Flexibility to work most days/times
- Valid Driver’s License
- Experience: minimum 3 months dialysis, phlebotomy, or CNA/PCA experience preferred
