Dialysis Patient Care Technician

Job Summary
Provide patient care during dialysis for adult/geriatric ESRD patients; monitor patients before, during, and after treatment; prepare dialysis machine and components; transport patients and record vitals; explain dialysis procedure and machine operation to patients; inspect fistula/graft/catheter and equipment safety; monitor for adverse reactions and machine malfunctions; assist with inventory and supplies in the dialysis clinic; maintain confidentiality and demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills; flexible to work 4-9 hour shifts per week with a 36-hour schedule; relocation assistance offered; requires high school diploma or equivalent, CPR within 90 days, color vision screening, completion of dialysis training within 12 weeks, CMS certification as required, and proficient computer skills.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 months of dialysis, phlebotomy, or CNA/PCA experience preferred
- CPR certification required within 90 days of hire
- Ability to distinguish primary colors (Ishihara Color Vision Test)
- Successful completion of dialysis training program within 12 weeks of hire
- Must meet CMS-approved national certification requirements within the CMS timeline
- Must be flexible to work most days/times
- Demonstrated working knowledge of English (verbal and written)
- Must have basic computer skills; proficiency in clinical applications within 90 days of hire
- Ability to organize time and tasks well
- Problem solving, analytical and effective communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion
- Interpersonal skills to work with patients, staff, and others
