Job Summary
Implement the special education assessment process by selecting, administering, and scoring evaluations to determine student eligibility for special education services. Develop psychological evaluation reports, compile Full Individual Evaluation reports, and conduct or participate in Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee meetings to assist with appropriate placement and Individual Education Plans (IEPs). Interpret assessment data for principals, teachers, and parents while collaborating with instructional personnel to recommend programs and manage behavior intervention plans. Provide clinical supervision to interns or trainees as assigned and ensure all placements comply with federal and state regulations. Maintain confidentiality of student records and present staff development training to enable effective support for students with disabilities.
Required Qualifications
- School Psychologist
- Master's degree or Specialist degree in psychology from accredited college or university
- Valid Texas license as a licensed specialist in school psychology (LSSP) /School Psychologist or Trainee Status Letter issued by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists
- Valid Texas Driver's License
- Diagnostician
- Master's Degree with a Valid Texas educational diagnostician certificate (Diagnostician)
- Knowledge of diagnostic procedures, education of special education students, human development, and learning theories
- Knowledge of procedures for assessing achievement and intellectual, emotional, and behavioral functioning for educational purposes
- Ability to interpret data
- Knowledge of prevention and intervention strategies, including behavior management interventions
- Knowledge of psycho-social development
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication and problem solving skills
- Regular district wide travel to multiple work locations as assigned
- Moderate lifting and carrying
- May be required to lift and transfer students to and from wheelchair or assist with positioning students with physical disabilities
- A School Psychologist must have a minimum of three years of experience providing psychological services in the public school to provide supervision of an intern or trainee
