Job Summary
Perform diagnostic ultrasounds using cognitive sonographic skills to identify and record anatomical, pathological, and diagnostic images. Operate ultrasound machines and new technologies while conducting examinations across various age-related protocols. Establish ethical working relationships with patients and staff, coordinate with physicians for invasive procedures, and assist with accreditation maintenance. Supervise and train students or medical sonographers as needed, reporting equipment in-service requests. Maintain high standards of medical ethics, empathy, and integrity during high-stress moments. Some facilities may expand duties to include echocardiography.
Required Qualifications
- Registration in at least one of the following areas of sonography is required: Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS), Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), or registry eligible
- If working in North Dakota and performing medical imaging or radiation therapy procedures, licensure through the North Dakota Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (NDMIRT) Board is required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six weeks of employment and re-certification as necessary is required
- For employees who provide outreach mobile services, maintenance of a valid driver's license and good driving record is required
- An accepted offer will require a drug screen and pre-employment background screening as a condition of employment
Desired Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of Diagnostic Imaging, Allied Health Certificate/Diploma or a minimum of one year equivalent work experience is preferred
- Registry preferred within two years after hiring
