Diagnostic Medical Sonographer

Job Summary
Performs ultrasounds in a professional and diagnostic manner using cognitive sonographic skills to identify and record anatomical, pathological, and diagnostic images. Operates ultrasound equipment, thoroughly understands device operation, and may perform echocardiography at some facilities. Maintains ethical professional relationships with patients and staff, coordinates with physicians and the healthcare team, and may assist with invasive procedures when applicable. Supervises and trains students and medical sonographers as needed, and participates in maintaining accreditation requirements. Requires adherence to age-related protocols and a commitment to ongoing knowledge in the field.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of Diagnostic Imaging
- Allied Health Certificate/Diploma or minimum of one year equivalent work experience
- Registration in RDMS, RVT, ARRT, or registry eligible (Registry preferred within two years)
- ND licensure if working in North Dakota and performing medical imaging or radiation therapy procedures
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six weeks of employment and recertification as necessary
