Job Summary
Review patient history, physician orders, and schedules; educate patients on procedures and equipment to ensure cooperation. Prepare and administer contrast media or medications when ordered, while continuously monitoring patient condition and reporting status changes. Select appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters, then position patients to perform imaging procedures. Analyze results, resolve image quality issues by re-positioning or repeating procedures, and enter scan results into the system. Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and implement safety standards and quality control procedures. Work within a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision, utilizing critical thinking and decisive judgment.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Technologist program or Diagnostic Medical Sonographer program
- Registered as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS), Vascular Technologist (RVT), or Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
- Certified in Sonography (S) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- State licensure if required by law
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Critical thinking skills
- Decisive judgement
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
