Job Summary
Diagnostic Medical Sonographer III sought for the Center for Diagnostic Imaging. Performs professional ultrasound examinations (high-frequency imaging with color and spectral Doppler) to aid in diagnosis, producing dynamic and static images, assessing hemodynamics, and communicating findings to the interpreting radiologist. Responsibilities include coordinating and performing exams with efficient workflow to minimize patient stay, ensuring patient safety and comfort, introducing and identifying patients, and notifying appropriate personnel as needed. Operates a broad range of imaging equipment, maintains equipment QC, and supports divisional paperwork. Provides instruction to sonography students and residents when appropriate and participates in mandatory educational activities. Requires graduation from an accepted diagnostic medical sonography program, ARDMS RDMS and RVT credentials (with AB/ OB/GYN/VT or Breast imaging or Pediatric/MSK specialties), BLS certification, and active clinical proficiency. On-call availability and potential for 24/7 coverage as volume dictates; shift is days with 4/10 schedule.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program
- Credentialed RDMS and RVT in specialty exams (AB, OB/GYN, VT) or RDMS Breast Imaging (Procedures; ABUS) OR RDMS Pediatric (PS) with Neurosonology (NE) certification OR RDMS Musculoskeletal credential
- Independent performance of pediatric exams (including spinal canal and dynamic hips) OR MSK imaging credential active
- Preferred: High School Graduate; 4+ years experience as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer/Vascular Technologist with RDMS and RVT credentials
- BLS or BCLS - American Heart Association
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) - ARDMS
- Preferred: RVT - ARDMS
- Preferred: RVS - Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
- Ability to perform professional, clinical and technical competencies of the unit
- Ability to provide instruction to students and residents
- Strong safety, infection control and equipment QC practices
