Job Summary
Operate radiologic equipment to produce clinical diagnostic x-ray films under general supervision, adhering to ALARA principles and state laws for positioning and machine controls. Perform routine procedures across orthopedic, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, head and neck, and body section radiography, including processing images via digital radiography and working under sterile conditions during surgery. Communicate with patients to obtain pertinent diagnostic information, manage acute, chronic, and complex disease processes, and assist radiologists with various diagnostic and surgery procedures. Utilize departmental technical manuals, fluoroscopic, and tomographic exam preparations while demonstrating competency in anatomy, physiology, physics, and electricity.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from a School of Radiologic Science
- Current certification from the appropriate governing agency i.e., ARRT, ARDMS, NMTCB
- Ability and willingness to demonstrate and maintain competency as required for job title and the unit/area(s) of assignment
- Excellent communication skills to include oral and written comprehension/expression
- Ability and willingness to work with patients' growth and development needs particularly related to the age of patients in the unit/area(s) of assignment
- Ability to manage a challenges work environment related to changing patient needs, including work with patients with acute, chronic, and complex disease processes, and those who are dying
- Ability and willingness to exhibit behaviors consistent with standards for performance improvement and organizational values (e.g., efficiency & financial responsibility, safety, partnership & service, teamwork, compassion, integrity, and trust & respect)
- Ability and willingness to exhibit behaviors consistent with principles for service excellence
- Knowledge and ability to perform and assist the Radiologist with various Diagnostic procedures, Surgery procedures as well as Film Library functions
- Good working knowledge of anatomy and physiology
- Understanding of the methods of physics, electricity and radiographic procedures
- Considerable initiative and judgment in determining proper anatomical position and calculating exposure
- Ability to lift/carry up to 10 lbs.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to bend and stoop, push, pull and manage equipment and lift up to 50 lbs and seldomly 100 lbs or over
- Ability to use hands for simple and firm grasping and fine manipulating
