Job Summary
Receives requisitions and schedules diagnostic imaging examinations using the Radiology Information System (RIS); acts as a receptionist to patients; entering and updating patient/film information; registering patients in the system; retrieving digital images and films, providing images to physicians on request, and sending images/reports to other facilities. Requires PACS experience as an asset, Grade 12 or equivalent, and completion of a Medical Administrative Assistant program or medical terminology coursework with related patient-registration experience. A current criminal records and registry checks are required. Office duties include filing, data entry, and interacting with patients in person. Suitability for independent work with accuracy and confidentiality is emphasized.
Required Qualifications
- Grade 12, or recognized equivalent
- Successful completion of a recognized Medical Administrative Assistant Program at a recognized educational institution, a recognized medical secretary program or the first year of a recognized diploma/degree in nursing
- or Successful completion of a recognized medical terminology course, PLUS one-year experience in a Patient Registration department or one year related experience
- Experience with PACS is considered an asset
- Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check are required conditions of employment
