Job Summary
Obtains, measures, calculates, and records echocardiogram studies by positioning patients for optimum diagnostic results and operating M-mode, 2D, and Doppler equipment to visualize cardiac anatomy and assess blood flow. Searches for pathology, evaluates valves, and reviews data to notify cardiologists of critical abnormalities while compiling records for interpretation. Performs adult and pediatric transthoracic, contract, stress, and intraoperative echocardiograms, maintaining CPR certification for Code 500 situations. Examines and maintains ultrasound equipment, ensures adequate supply stock, schedules patients, logs tests for fee collection, and orients new hires to echocardiography procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in adult or pediatric echocardiography
- Successful completion of training program (pre-hire, post-hire, or on-the-job) in area of specialty, if applicable
- Successful completion of accredited (CAAHEP/CMA approved or equivalent) ultrasound/vascular technology education program specializing in echocardiography
- Registered Cardiac Sonographer Certificate OR Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer Certificate
- Basic Life Support from American Heart Association
- Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in customer service
- Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in interpersonal relations
- Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in oral communication
- Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in problem solving
- Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in teamwork
- Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in written communication
