Job Summary
Diagnose problems on customer vehicles with precision and integrity, quote needed repairs to customers, and explain conditions. Collaborate with office staff to support sales goals, provide guidance to production technicians, review inspections for accuracy, perform quality control, and assist with shop cleaning. May perform flat-rate repairs at half of the hourly rate after diagnostics. Requires a valid US driver’s license, insurability on shop policy, and 7+ years of technician experience with advanced knowledge of passenger cars and diagnostics (including diagnostic trees, Indetifix, Labscopes, and module programming). Proficient in diagnosing across American, Asian, European, diesel, and hybrid vehicles; strong English communication; capable of using computers and diagnostic software; able to lift 50 lbs and stand up to 60 minutes. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Must possess a valid US Driver's License
- be insurable on shop insurance policy
- possess the ability to drive a vehicle with passengers
- at least 7 years of practical experience working as a technician in an automobile repair facility
- Advanced knowledge of passenger automobile & light truck workings and systems
- Advanced knowledge and skill in passenger automobiles diagnostics including using a diagnostic tree, Identifix, Labscopes, module programming equipment, performing testing procedures
- Advanced knowledge, ability and skill in performing mechanical repairs and services on passenger automobiles including removing and reinstalling parts
- Experience on all makes and models, including American, Asian, European, Diesel and Hybrid vehicles through F-550/5500 trucks
- Knowledge and skill of how to perform a thorough inspection on passenger automobiles and light trucks
- Ability to clearly communicate in english verbally and in written forms
- Ability to use a computer and diagnostic tools to diagnose vehicles, look up repair instructions, and access Customer Management Software
- Ability to lift more than 50 lbs
- Ability to stand for periods of up to 60 min
- Skilled and able to perform basic counting and math
- Ability to perform major and fine motor skill movements for repairs and shop activities
