Job Summary
The Diabetes Support Group Peer Leader (Volunteer) facilitates weekly 1-hour sessions for adults with prediabetes or Type 2 Diabetes, creating a supportive and inclusive environment. Responsibilities include tracking attendance, setting up the program space, distributing materials, introducing guest speakers, and communicating reminders to participants. Ideal candidates will have lived experience with diabetes, strong communication skills, and a compassionate approach.
Required Qualifications
- Lived experience with Type 2 Diabetes
- Prior participation in a Diabetes Education Program (DEP)
- Strong communication and active listening skills
- Compassionate and supportive approach
- Ability to lead group discussions
Desired Qualifications
- First Aid certification
- Food Safety certification
Additional Requirements
- Full vaccination against COVID-19 is mandatory
