Job Summary
Diabetes Educator RN PRN role providing direct patient education to hospitalized patients with diabetes or pre-diabetes. Responsibilities include assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care, education for patients and families on diabetes management including insulin delivery and other prescribed agents, development of individualized plans of care in collaboration with an interprofessional team, and ensuring patient safety and quality standards. Role involves in-hospital coverage with PRN shifts (7:30-4, Mon-Fri) across a two-shift, six-week schedule; requires nursing diploma/associate degree with RN licensure and prior diabetes education experience; preferred Bachelor's degree in Nursing and up to two years of experience. The hospital emphasizes professional development, career ladder advancement, and magnets certification, with a focus on caring for patients and promoting education and leadership within the nursing staff.
