Job Summary
DHS Computer Systems Engineer responsible for designing, building, and configuring Windows and Linux servers to support DHS mission systems, integrating them into existing networks, and enforcing security per DHS guidance, DISA STIGs, and vendor guidance. Performs regular security assessments and audits, manages patching and log management strategies, provides advanced troubleshooting for Windows and Linux, acts as an escalation point for critical failures, conducts vulnerability scans, collaborates with security teams on remediation, leads installation and configuration of new systems to meet security requirements, and maintains documentation for installations, configurations, and changes.
Required Qualifications
- 12+ years of direct IT security experience within the DoD/Federal Government
- Experience within the Intelligence Community and Law Enforcement is a strong plus
- Expertise in IT systems and security technologies including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM
- Proficiency in IT security assessments and penetration testing
- Strong understanding of IT network security principles and standards (FIPS, ISA/IEC 62443)
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to work independently and in a team
- Windows 10 and later / Windows Server 2016 and later, VMware vSphere, PowerShell, CASP+/CCNP or other advanced certifications
