DFV Support Worker (9-month Parental Leave Cover)

Job Summary

Provide essential, trauma-informed daily support for women and children residing in housing services, assisting with routines and manual handling tasks. Help clients form positive relationships while directly supporting families in navigating external services like health, legal, and Centrelink appointments. Respond proactively to mental health and safety needs, working in partnership with DFV Practitioners to track progress toward individual case plan goals and facilitate group activities. Complete accurate administration and reporting for all interactions and client progress. Actively partake in the on-call roster to ensure continuous client safety outside standard hours. This 9-month fixed-term role is based full-time in a residential setting in Western Sydney.

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma in Community Services and/or Diploma in Counselling, Youth Work, Early Education background
  • Demonstrated experience of working in the DFV sector, family services and/or women's services
  • Knowledge and understanding of gender based DFV and the impact on women and children
  • Working knowledge of trauma-informed and DFV-informed care
  • Experience working in a team-based environment
  • Female
  • NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) clearance
  • Satisfactory National Police Check
  • Current unrestricted NSW driver licence
  • Comfortable with manual handling tasks and physical activity

Desired Qualifications

  • Ability to be based on site full-time in a residential setting in Western Sydney
