Job Summary
DevOps Reliability Engineer to help ensure the performance, scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency of our Azure-based SaaS platform. The role sits at the intersection of DevOps, production operations, and engineering execution, focusing on proactively identifying opportunities to improve system efficiency, effectiveness, and resilience. Requires strong Azure skills, ability to read and troubleshoot code, read telemetry/logs/metrics, and drive data-driven improvements. Responsibilities include monitoring health and performance, tuning Azure services, collaborating with engineering teams on reliability improvements, creating runbooks and troubleshooting guides, supporting SQL backups/restores for debugging, analyzing partner integrations and usage patterns for cost optimization, performing root cause analysis of complex production issues, and contributing to continuous improvement across deployment processes and operational readiness. Candidates should have 8+ years in related roles, a Bachelor's degree, and hands-on Azure experience (Azure SQL, Functions, App Services, AKS/Container Apps). Compensation is approximately AUD 90,000-110,000 (converted to USD: about 59,400-72,600). Benefits include flexible remote work and professional development.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related degree or relevant experience
- 8+ years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, Cloud Engineering, or similar roles
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, especially: Azure SQL, Azure Functions, Azure App Services, and Azure Containers (AKS, Container Apps, or similar)
- Ability to read and interpret telemetry, logs, metrics, and resource usage data and explain what’s wrong and how to fix it
- Experience working with production systems that require high availability and reliability
- Comfort owning work end-to-end, from identifying issues to executing improvements
- Experience adjusting pipelines, hosting configurations, and deployment processes
- Solid understanding of cloud cost drivers and usage optimization
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively across engineering and support team
- Ability to read and interpret application code to support troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and identification of performance improvement opportunities
