Job Summary
DevOps Practice Lead responsible for designing configuration management best practices for software deployment, building and managing AWS services (CloudFormation, EBS, EC2, S3, ELB, RDS, etc.), version control and source code administration, and designing/building deployment pipelines. Duties include maintenance and upgrades of cloud environments, monitoring and deployment automation development, diagnosing complex system issues, collaborating with development teams on infrastructure for new features, assisting support with escalated issues, researching and recommending internal tool improvements, developing scripts to support automation and security initiatives, and incident response during local day hours with potential evening/weekend involvement. Collaboration with teams across Whole Foods to support operational best practices and leveraging experience with Agile development practices (Kanban or Scrum) is expected.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years experience working in a web development and/or operations roles
- 6+ years experience in Linux System Administration
- 4+ years experience scripting with bash, Ruby, Python and/or similar
- 4+ years experience working in Amazon Web Services. Knowledge of AWS CLI a must.
- 4+ years experience setting up and monitoring uptime and performance management tools (Nagios, New Relic, Runscope)
- 2+ years experience managing databases SQL and/or NOSQL (MySQL and Mongo preferred)
- 2+ years experience in virtualization tools like Vagrant and Docker
- Experience with Continuous Development/Deployment/Integration design and best practices
- Experience managing and working with configuration management tools (Chef, Salt Stack, Ansible)
- Experience in Agile development practices (Kanban or Scrum)
- Ability to see opportunities for improvement, take ownership and work closely with others to drive operational improvement
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to correlate system behaviors based on known interdependencies between those systems
- Ability to handle ambiguity, embracing change and helping others see it as an opportunity and able to stay focused on goals while adapting to change
Desired Qualifications
- Experienced with SaaS-based vendor solutions
- Experienced with Atlassian as an Agile development management tool (JIRA, Bitbucket, Bamboo)
- Knowledge of cyber-security best practices
- Experience with API management
- Experience with various application architectures
