Job Summary

Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS, GCP, or Azure using Terraform or CloudFormation. Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate testing, building, and deployment processes. Manage containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes, while implementing monitoring, logging, and alerting systems. Ensure system reliability, availability, and performance through incident response and post-mortem processes. Manage cloud cost optimization, enforce infrastructure best practices, and implement security controls including IAM and secrets management. Collaborate with engineering teams to improve developer experience and maintain infrastructure documentation. This role bridges development and operations to support software delivery at speed and scale, championing a culture of automation and continuous improvement. Candidates must be available to work US time zones and comfortable working as an independent contractor.

Required Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering
  • Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
  • Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Pulumi, or CloudFormation
  • Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes)
  • Strong experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or CircleCI
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Bash, Python, or Go)
  • Strong understanding of networking, security, and cloud architecture principles
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Reliable internet connection and a quiet, professional environment for team calls
  • Availability to work US time zones
  • Comfortable working as an independent contractor

Desired Qualifications

  • Cloud certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, GCP Professional, or Azure Administrator
  • Experience with service mesh technologies such as Istio or Linkerd
  • Knowledge of GitOps workflows such as ArgoCD or Flux
  • Experience with database management and scaling in cloud environments
  • Familiarity with security compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 or ISO 27001
  • Experience in a high-availability, high-traffic production environment
