DevEx Engineer
$130,000–$400,000 year
On-siteSan Francisco, California, United States
Job Summary
Own and improve CI/CD pipelines across complex multi-service environments while building scalable end-to-end testing infrastructure for production systems. Enhance monorepo local development workflows and create internal platform tooling that enables engineers and external contributors to ship reliable applications faster. Design systems that improve developer productivity, reduce operational bottlenecks, and support distributed engineering contributors without creating dependency on a small internal platform team. Build reproducible developer workflows across containerized environments and multi-service architectures, improving deployment safety, debugging workflows, and release processes. Collaborate with platform, infrastructure, and engineering leadership on developer experience strategy to dramatically reduce friction in building, testing, and deploying new applications.

- Experience building or maintaining monorepo-based local development environments used daily by engineering teams
- Strong instincts around end-to-end testing in messy, distributed, multi-service systems
- Platform-minded engineer who focuses on improving engineering velocity and developer workflows
- Comfortable operating in ambiguous, fast-moving startup environments with high ownership expectations
- Strong systems-thinking mindset with practical debugging and operational instincts
- Experience supporting external contributors, contractors, or large engineering ecosystems
Desired Qualifications
- Experience at developer-platform-focused companies or infrastructure-heavy startups
- Familiarity with Playwright, Modal, Temporal, Dagster, or similar tooling
- Experience building developer platforms, internal tooling, CI systems, or build systems at scale
- Exposure to platform engineering in high-growth startups with strong engineering cultures
- Experience improving local development experience for large monorepos or distributed service architectures
- Background in developer productivity, release engineering, or testing infrastructure
