Job Summary
Build robust, scalable ETL/ELT pipelines on the Databricks platform (Spark, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog) that process data from diverse sources. Write well-tested software by creating automated unit, integration, and data quality tests for every pipeline, embedding them in CI/CD workflows. Operate the data platform in production by implementing monitoring, alerting, and observability, while leading incident investigations to root cause and deriving corrective actions. Accelerate engineering work by adopting AI tools for development, testing, and operations, and mentor colleagues on best practices. This role is part of GoTo's engineering team, where AI is used to deliver practical value to customers and redefine the workplace for millions of users worldwide.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in data engineering or software development
- Proven record of designing, operating, and owning production-grade data pipelines end to end
- Significant hands-on experience with the Databricks platform—Apache Spark, Delta Lake, and Unity Catalog
- Strong Python and SQL skills
- Significant experience testing data systems: automated unit and integration testing for pipelines, data quality frameworks and validation checks, and CI/CD for data workloads
- Strong operational excellence track record: monitoring and observability, leading incident management to root cause, and building preventative measures into design
- Hands-on adoption of AI tools to accelerate engineering work (development, testing, operations)
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience mentoring engineers
- Knowledge of French is required for permanent positions in Quebec
- Fluency in English is required for this position
