Job Summary
Developmental Disabilities Intern for in-community weekly therapeutic services in Union, NJ. Supports 1:1 direct behavior analysis in home and community settings under supervision, using Treatment Plans and Positive Behavior Supports. Responsibilities include shadowing Intensive in Community and Behavioral Assistance cases, documenting weekly progress notes, delivering respite care or behavioral assistance to youths aged 4-21 and their families, assisting in individual and small group therapy, implementing BA Treatment Plans, data collection, environmental arrangement facilitation, and crisis prevention/intervention. Requires current college student or recent graduate pursuing/holding a Master’s degree in Special Education or related field (equivalent experience considered). Must be willing to work evening hours; this is an unpaid internship with flexible scheduling and virtual training components. Proficiency in active listening, communication, adaptability, reliability, and a service-oriented approach is preferred; bilingual abilities (Spanish, Portuguese, Creole) are a plus. Location-based duties occur in Hackensack and Union, NJ, with COVID-19 safety practices in place.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to provide proof of credentials and at least 3 professional references
- Must consent to and pass a formal background check including fingerprinting
- Planning or Currently enrolled in a Practicum or Internship in a Master’s Degree Program
- Interns are required to complete the DCF COSC Behavioral Assistant Certification within 6 months of their hire date
- Must have a minimum of two years of experience in respite care, behavioral healthcare, or a similar field
- Bilingual is a plus (Spanish, Portuguese, Creole)
