Job Summary
Development Strategist to join a movement-focused fundraising team and help raise institutional/foundation gifts within a donor-centered model. You’ll work with the Deputy Director of Foundation Giving and the Director of Fundraising to sustain and grow general support funding, identify new funding opportunities, and translate program objectives into grant-ready content. Responsibilities include researching and soliciting funders, drafting grant proposals and reports, creating donor updates and case statements, coordinating grant stewardship for major funders, forecasting revenue, and tracking relationships in our grants management systems. The role requires embedding with program teams to understand our impact, collaborating with leadership and the Senior Writer on proposals, and driving cross-cutting fundraising initiatives within a larger integrated program that blends individual and institutional giving. The ideal candidate has at least three years of nonprofit fundraising experience (including grant management), strong writing/editing ability for philanthropic audiences, proficiency with Salesforce and Google Workspace, and a demonstrated ability to manage deadlines, build internal and external relationships, and contribute creative,Strategic fundraising ideas aligned with our mission to advance equity for low-income communities of color.
Required Qualifications
- Three years of professional experience in nonprofit fundraising, preferably including grant management
- Experience editing or writing for philanthropic audiences
- Familiarity with methods of foundation solicitation and cultivation
- Proficiency with Google Workspace, Outlook, MS Office, and Salesforce
- Strong writing and communication skills with ability to translate program objectives into grant deliverables
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently in a collaborative fundraising team
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships with internal teams and funders
- Commitment to mission and social justice-focused fundraising for low-income communities of color
