Job Summary
Develop and validate new test methods in the laboratory under senior guidance, creating standard operating procedures and training staff on new techniques. Participate in specialist analytical investigations, troubleshooting equipment issues to minimize downtime, and maintain complex LC-MS/MS systems. Communicate sensitive client information accurately and ensure full compliance with ISO17025 and Lab51 standards. Manage routine equipment maintenance, develop documentation systems, and contribute to the Quality Improvement Programme. Perform horizon scanning to identify new technologies that provide competitive advantages. This temporary role covers maternity leave but may lead to a permanent position within the Forensic Testing Service team.
Required Qualifications
- Chemistry, Forensic Science or Toxicology Degree
- Good Laboratory Practice
- Knowledge and experience of using LC-MS/MS
- Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills
- Knowledge of conventional IT software e.g. Microsoft Office
- Personal honesty and integrity as a commitment to client service and confidentiality
Desired Qualifications
- MSc or PhD in Chemistry, Forensic Science or Toxicology with a focus on analytical chemistry
- 12 months experience in an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory
- Knowledge and experience of using Waters LC-MS/MS systems and software
