Job Summary
Development Manager / Technical Lead to guide and hands-on contribute to software solutions for a leading infrastructure firm. Responsibilities include leading and mentoring the development team, shaping architecture and development practices, ensuring delivery discipline, coordinating with Business Analysts, and maintaining quality and documentation. The role balances ~60% hands-on development with ~40% leadership, planning, coaching, and stakeholder management. Requires extensive senior-level software engineering and people-management experience, strong communication, strategic thinking, cloud/microservices proficiency, and a track record of delivering complex projects in a fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field or equivalent experience
- 15+ years of relevant experience
- 5+ years of experience managing and leading development teams
- Demonstrated success as a people manager and senior technical contributor
- Proven experience leading software projects
- Experience in resource allocation, budgeting, and project prioritization
- Coaching technical contributors and reinforcing team standards
- Strong strategic planning and decision-making abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Leadership, mentorship, collaboration, and team accountability in a high-output environment
- Experience with cloud technologies, distributed systems, and microservices
- Advanced SQL skills with MSSQL
- Knowledge of data modeling, ETL, APIs, data synchronization, and scripting (PowerShell)
- Proficiency with Git and GitHub
- Agile methodologies (Scrum, TDD; familiarity with BDD)
- Technical estimation, work breakdown, prioritization, and risk identification
- Code reviews, design reviews, and development oversight to improve quality
- Ability to enforce consistent team processes
- Strong knowledge of algorithms, design patterns, and performance tuning
- Secure coding practices and software security/compliance requirements
- Experience traveling for work is possible
