Development Engineer - Gradient Coils (No Sponsorship or OPT)

Job Summary

Develop and maintain engineering work instructions and in-process test procedures for MRI gradient coil manufacturing and assembly. Collaborate with the gradient engineering team to translate design intent into repeatable, compliant manufacturing processes and serve as the technical liaison between design and global operations. Lead technical reviews, program meetings, and cross-functional project teams to drive product safety, quality improvement, and cost optimization. Prepare technical reports for R&D activities, product investigations, and manufacturing field issues while ensuring compliance with GE HealthCare quality systems and regulatory standards. No sponsorship or OPT available; role requires onsite presence at global MRI sites.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 6 years of experience)
  • 1+ year of experience in manufacturing, product development, or engineering
  • Strong technical writing ability
  • Cross functional work experience
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening
  • Must complete a drug screen (as applicable)

Desired Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience developing and manufacturing complex electro-mechanical or fabricated assemblies
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, assembly technologies, materials engineering, and production methods
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical or electrical hardware assemblies, fixtures, and tooling
  • Experience specifying, developing, or designing large-scale manufacturing tooling and equipment
  • Direct experience with the design, development, or manufacture of electromagnetic resin-impregnated coils
  • Understanding of vacuum impregnation processes and associated equipment
  • Familiarity with wet winding processes and fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) tube manufacturing
  • Experience with numerical analysis, simulation, or optimization tools
  • Strong analytical and statistical problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced development environment
  • Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to generate innovative technical solutions and drive continuous improvement
  • Proven ability to work effectively within cross-functional and multidisciplinary teams
