Job Summary
Role: Developer in Test, Technical Lead in Romania (remote). Own the end-to-end quality architecture of our platform as a principal-level individual contributor. Design overarching test infrastructure, establish quality governance, and set technical standards for engineering teams. Drive testability across UI, API/services, database, integration, performance, security, and reliability testing. Lead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable automated test frameworks using JavaScript/TypeScript, PHP, Python. Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions). Define test strategies, release quality gates, and coverage thresholds. Serve as the principal technical authority on test automation, quality strategy, and reliability. Collaborate with Platform Architects, Development Managers, Product leaders, developers, and designers to align quality architecture with product strategy. Mentor QA engineers and SDETs; lead architectural and technical reviews; identify systemic quality risks; perform exploratory testing; advocate best practices. Ensure timely resolution of defects, analyze results, and drive continuous improvement. Educational requirements include a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in SDET, QA Engineering, or software development roles, with at least 2 years in a technical lead or principal-level position
- Proven track record of designing and delivering large-scale test automation architectures across complex, distributed systems
- Strong programming skills in at least one major language (e.g., JavaScript/TypeScript, PHP, Python)
- Extensive hands-on experience designing and implementing automated test frameworks and suites for both UI (e.g., Cypress, Playwright, Selenium) and API (e.g., REST Assured, Postman, Pytest) testing
- Solid understanding and practical experience testing various layers of a full-stack application (UI, API/Services, Database)
- Experience with CI/CD tools and integrating automated tests into deployment pipelines
- Proficiency with version control systems, particularly Git
- Strong understanding of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes (Agile/Scrum environment preferred)
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Demonstrated leadership potential or prior experience mentoring team members or leading testing initiatives
